Acumen has announced an investment in Kenya-based Keep IT Cool, which aims to support smallholder farmers and promote sustainable farming practices. The funding will assist Keep IT Cool’s efforts to expand operations in the Turkana region and improve sourcing processes. Additionally, Acumen will provide technical assistance to help the company integrate refugee communities into its poultry supply chain.
This initiative falls under Acumen’s Forcibly Displaced People (FDP) Lens Investing program, which seeks to provide capital and support to enterprises working in displacement-affected communities. The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the IKEA Foundation fund the program.
Keep IT Cool was recently recognized as a winner of the Earthshot Prize, receiving USD 1.21 M to further its environmental and sustainability goals. It also secured a pre-seed round from the Catalyst fund earlier this year.
This new investment aligns with Acumen’s mission to foster sustainable livelihoods in vulnerable communities.
