MTN And Microsoft Train 50 Entrepreneurs in Lagos
In what was a collaborative effort between MTN Nigeria and Microsoft Nigeria, the duo organized a training program which was held in Lagos to empower 50 owners of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) with Microsoft Office skills that are essential for the growth of their businesses.
According to MTN, the program was tailored to empower some of the fastest-growing SMEs i9n Nigerian in order to streamline their financial and business processes, as well as improve customer interactions and make better decisions with integrated intelligence.
While rendering an address to participants at the training, the General Manager, Enterprise Marketing, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, who was stood in for by the Senior Manager of the SME Segment at MTN Nigeria, said that the company “Believes that it can make a significant impact by providing free resources for a generation of entrepreneurs who have passionate about developing and commercializing small-scale businesses”.
He disclosed MTN Nigeria has decided to open its doors to all SMEs who show that they are committed to learning and building. She added that the telecom giant is interested in supporting anyone and everyone who can contribute to the improvement of Nigeria’s economy.
He also added that the initiative was designed to provide entrepreneurs with a comprehensive set of Microsoft Office skills that are relevant to aid the growing commercialization of small businesses, thus contributing the economic growth of Nigeria’s economy.
The training was reported to have enabled the entrepreneurs to standardize their entire organizational business processes, including sales, finance, human resources, operations, logistics, and marketing to function as an integrated whole. This is done by way of connecting data across accounting, sales, purchasing, inventory and customer interactions.
The training lasted for a 6-hour period and provided an opportunity for more than 50 SMEs to acquire first-hand experience on how to better accounting and record keeping. According to MTN, the training is the first in the series of training being planned for small business owners across Nigeria to deliver value to and through their businesses.
