500 Ghanaian Startups To Benefit From Oracle’s Global Startup Program
The government of Ghana and the Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem have announced the Ghana-Oracle Digital Enterprise Program, an initiative tailored to support tech-enabled startups and entrepreneurs across the West African nation. The program by Oracle for entrepreneurs and innovators has committed to support 500 local startups in the country via access to Oracle Cloud technology, mentoring, workshops, business-enablement, and support resources.
Bolstering In The Offing
While the program is set to support and further enable 500 startups and entrepreneurs, it will as well engage with local innovation hubs to execute projects. The initiative will see to the opening of B2B and B2C startups of all sizes and stages of growth, to further scale innovation in the country and the continent at large. There will be Oracle Cloud credits, mentoring, workshops and deep accounts upon the expiration of the credits.
Asides world-class mentoring and virtual as well as on-site curriculum resources offered by the program, migration and technical support will be included, to be championed by local Oracle program representatives for assistance. According to the provider, the qualifying startups will have the opportunity to access Oracle’s marketing and customer ecosystems to further boost their ventures.
Collaboration For Innovation
The Vice President of Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem, Jason Williamson said that the technology and business ingenuity coming out of Africa is exciting and full of inspiration. “Collaborating with government and President Akufo-Addo is an excellent way to provide immediate impact and support for hundreds of innovators across the country of Ghana as we look to expand our commitment to more entrepreneurs and startups in Africa,” he added.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, commented that: “We are on a journey toward increasing the application of science, technology, and innovation in the development of our economy, society, and our country, and it’s a priority of this government.”
According to him, the startup ecosystem will enhance the growth of Ghana’s budding technology sector and should spur a wave of innovative ideas from entrepreneurs that will provide solutions to local and global challenges, and provide digital jobs for the ever-increasing young population.
Oracle
The new program in Ghana underscores the commitment of Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem to reaching startups around the world. The Ghana-Oracle Digital Enterprise Program will kick off with an event hosted by Oracle and the Government of Ghana in early April. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and the program will spread to regions across Ghana.
