By  |  July 3, 2019

Safaricom is planning to shut down its shops for four hours on Thursday 4th July between the hours of 10:30 am and 2:30 pm in honor of Bob Collymore who succumbed to cancer on Monday at age 61.

The telco says the closure is meant to give Kenyans a chance to reflect on his life, “As a mark of respect for our cherished leader, Safaricom shall be closing all our shops countrywide on Thursday 4th July 2019 between the hours of 10.30am and 2.30pm,” the statement indicated.

A day after his death, the firm announced the appointment of former CEO and Kenya Airways Chairman as his replacement in an interim capacity.

At a private ceremony attended by close family, friends and few Safaricom staff, his body was cremated at Kariokor. A memoriaal is planned later this week to celebrate his life.
