Rwanda’s Munyax Eco and Zambia’s WidEnergy, have secured an investment from female-focused fund Opes-LCEF, an impact investor that provides catalytic capital to early-stage social enterprises in emerging markets.
Munyax Eco deals with photovoltaic off-grid systems and solar street lights and installs solar water heaters for its customers. The new funding will go into financing inventories and the expansion of product lines.
WidEnergy offers off-grid households access to solar-powered lights and appliances via a pay-as-you-go platform. The startup seeks to use the new investment to extend and scale its distribution network.
