Rwanda’s Munyax Eco and Zambia’s WidEnergy, have secured an investment from female-focused fund Opes-LCEF, an impact investor that provides catalytic capital to early-stage social enterprises in emerging markets.
Munyax Eco deals with photovoltaic off-grid systems and solar street lights and installs solar water heaters for its customers. The new funding will go into financing inventories and expansion of product lines.
WidEnergy offers off-grid households access to solar-powered lights and appliances via a pay-as-you-go platform. The startup seeks to use the new investment to extend and scale its distribution network.
