South African Startup Giraffe Acquired By Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator

Giraffe, a South African mobile employment platform, has been acquired by the Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator. As a result, the startup’s present network of job seekers and employers will be asked to join the SA Youth Initiative.

Giraffe is a fully automated, low-cost recruiting agency service focusing on medium-skilled occupations such as call center, field sales, customer support, and retail across South Africa. The startup’s mobile app allows job searchers to create a CV, take educational courses, and apply for employment for free, and is available on all major mobile networks. Employers can use Giraffe to automatically assess candidates based on their preferences and listen to candidate audio clips before interviewing and hiring them.

The Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator aims to scale up youth employment efforts in South Africa and enable both jobseekers and employers to engage and interact in a low cost, self-service manner.
