Nigerian News Subscription Platform Stears Raises USD 3.3 M Seed

Nigerian digital media publication Stears raised USD 3.3 M in seed funding. The funding round was led by MaC Venture Capital, with participation from Serena Ventures, Omidyar Group’s Luminate Fund, Melo 7 Tech Partners and Cascador.

Founded in 2017 as a news and financial insights publishing platform in Nigeria, the company raised its pre-seed of USD 650K in 2020. The platform then pivoted into a data-intelligence platform and subscription-based news platform. The Nigeria focussed platform covers a wide range of topics, from news, financial information and sometimes investigative topics.
