Ivorian fintech company Daba Finance has been named the 2024 Ecobank Fintech Challenge winner, taking home the grand prize of USD 50 K. Kenyan neobank Melanin Kapital secured second place with a prize of USD 10 K, while Guinean fintech YMO placed third, earning USD 5 K.
The general public was invited to vote for their favourite fintech in a new twist for this year’s competition. MiaPay, a fintech from Togo, won the “Public Choice Award” due to this public vote.
Twelve innovative fintech startups competed for the top prize, presenting their solutions to an esteemed panel of five judges. The finalists were evaluated based on their innovation, market potential, scalability, and team strength.
The finalists were selected from a record 1,550 entrants from 70 countries, highlighting the Ecobank Fintech Challenge’s growing significance and showcasing the impressive innovation emerging from the African continent.
