Morocco’s ToumAI Gets USD 1 M Pre-Seed For AI-Powered Customer Experience

Moroccan AI startup ToumAI has raised USD 1 M in pre-seed funding to expand its AI-driven customer experience (CX) solutions tailored to African languages and cultural nuances. The funding round was led by Launch Africa Ventures, with participation from Madica by Flourish Ventures, Orange Ventures, Digital Africa, GO Ventures, and business angel Bruno Akpaka, alongside support from Bpifrance.

Founded in 2020 as a spin-off of AIOX Labs, ToumAI is tackling language barriers and cultural complexity in customer interactions. Its flagship HolistiCX suite personalises business interactions by considering generational preferences, emotional profiles, and communication styles. The AI technology enhances voice commands in local languages, IVR systems, and churn detection, helping businesses better engage with diverse communities.

ToumAI’s multilingual AI understands thousands of dialects, addressing a major challenge in Africa, where oral communication is dominant due to high illiteracy rates. Co-founder Youcef Rahmani emphasised the startup’s mission to make African languages more inclusive in digital transformation, allowing businesses to access a “goldmine of insights” from previously overlooked communities.

With operations in Morocco, Senegal, and Malta, and plans to expand into Tunisia, ToumAI has partnered with major organisations, including AIOX Labs, OrangeFab, and Inwi Innov. Key sectors such as banking, telecom, and infrastructure are leveraging its AI to improve customer satisfaction and data collection.

The new funding will support further development of HolistiCX, market expansion, and team growth. As competition in AI-driven CX intensifies, ToumAI’s focus on inclusivity and cultural adaptability positions it as a leader in ethical AI solutions for Africa’s diverse linguistic landscape.
