Nigeria’s Rana Energy Secures USD 3 M Pre-Seed For AI-Powered Clean Energy Platform

Nigerian solar startup Rana Energy has secured USD 3 M in pre-seed funding to expand its AI-driven Clean Energy-as-a-Service platform. The round includes USD 500 K in equity from Techstars and EchoVC Eco, and USD 2.5 M in green debt from FSDH Asset Management.

Founded in 2023 by engineers Abraham Mohammed and Mubarak Popoola, Rana uses its Virtual Solar Network (VSN) to aggregate and manage distributed solar and storage assets.

The platform offers businesses clean energy subscriptions with no upfront costs, already delivering 1.3 MW of capacity, 99.9% uptime, and 30% cost savings for clients like the National Defence College in Abuja. Rana aims to reach 10 MW of capacity within 12 months across Nigeria, Ghana, and Zambia.
