Anda Raises USD 3.4 M Seed To Formalise Angola’s Motorcycle Taxi Industry

Angolan mobility startup Anda has raised USD 3.4 M in seed funding co-led by Breega and Speedinvest to formalise the country’s fragmented motorcycle taxi industry.

Founded in 2022 by Sergio Tati and Joerg Nuehrmann, Anda operates a “drive-to-own” model that enables riders to acquire motorcycles through financed ownership while accessing insurance, training, and safety gear. The company also runs a ride-hailing and delivery app to integrate payments, tracking, and driver management.

With an estimated 1.2 million riders, most unlicensed and uninsured, Angola’s motorcycle taxi sector represents a USD 5 B informal market. Anda’s model seeks to boost driver incomes and expand financial inclusion in one of Africa’s least formalised economies.

The startup plans to use the funding to scale its fleet and platform, with investors calling it a key step toward “rewriting the mobility story across Africa.”
