Ventures Platform Secures USD 64 M First Close For USD 75 M Fund II To Back Africa’s Next Tech Wave

Ventures Platform, one of Africa’s leading seed-stage funds, has secured a USD 64 M first close for its second fund, part of a targeted USD 75 M Fund II aimed at deepening early-stage investments and catalysing Series A rounds across Africa.

The fund attracted major institutional investors, including IFC which proposed a USD 6 M backing earlier this year, Standard Bank, British International Investment (BII), Proparco, MSMEDA, AfricaGrow, and a landmark participation from Nigeria’s iDICE programme, the first of its kind for a local innovation fund.

With 70% of commitments from returning LPs, Ventures Platform will expand into Francophone and North Africa while doubling down on core markets such as Nigeria and Egypt. It plans to focus on “painkiller” solutions across fintech, healthtech, agritech, edtech, and AI.

Founded by Kola Aina, Ventures Platform has backed more than 90 startups, including Moniepoint, PiggyVest, OmniRetail, and LemFi, cementing its role as a key catalyst in Africa’s venture ecosystem.
