SolarSaver Raises USD 60 M To Expand SME Solar Power Across Southern Africa

South African renewable energy firm SolarSaver has raised USD 60 M to accelerate access to affordable and reliable solar power for small and medium-sized businesses across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia.

SolarSaver develops, owns, and operates small-scale solar and battery systems that power businesses through power purchase and rent-to-own contracts; models requiring no upfront cost from clients.

With over 700 installations totalling around 140 MW already deployed, the new funding will fuel the company’s expansion and help more SMEs reduce their reliance on unstable grids and costly diesel alternatives.

The round was led by Inspired Evolution’s Evolution III Fund, alongside FMO (the Dutch development bank) and Swedfund (Sweden’s DFI). Swedfund said the investment will strengthen energy security and promote fossil-free growth across one of Africa’s most critical economic regions.
