South African electrotech startup Plentify has closed an oversubscribed Series A round, pushing its total funding to nearly USD 15 M (ZAR 256 M) as it scales its AI-powered home-energy platform.
The round, following last year’s raise, was led by Secha Capital, Buffet Investments, and a South African family office, with participation from existing backers E3 Capital and Fireball Capital, and new investors including Endeavor SA’s Harvest Fund and Satgana.
Founded by Jon Kornik and Kailas Nair, Plentify builds AI-driven hardware and software that connects household appliances to cheaper, cleaner energy sources.
South Africa’s load shedding and soaring tariffs have made the country a proving ground for subsidy-free energy innovation, with Nair saying this forced Plentify “to make load management work from day one.”
Plentify is now preparing pilot deployments in the UK, Australia, and Brazil, while its technology is already being used locally by Balwin Properties, Conlog, and Wetility. To date, the company says its smart energy network has saved 9.9 GWh and helped households cut more than R40 million in electricity costs.
