SORA Technology Raises USD 2.5 M To Scale Drone-Led Malaria Control In Africa

SORA Technology, a Japan-born startup tackling infectious diseases and climate change in Africa with drones and AI, has raised an additional USD 2.5 M in the second close of its late seed round, bringing its total funding to USD 7.3 M.

The round follows a USD 4.8 M raise in 2025 and adds new investors Daiwa House Group Investment, Central Japan Innovative Research Fund I, and UNERI Capital Fund Series I.

Founded in 2018 by CEO Yosuke Kaneko, SORA Technology uses drones, satellites, and AI to tackle infectious diseases and climate challenges, with a core focus on malaria control in Africa.

Its flagship SORA Malaria Control project operates across more than 10 African countries, including Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, and Mozambique, and includes partnerships with governments, research institutions, and the World Health Organisation.

The company plans to use the funding to advance disease-prediction algorithms, expand African field operations, and strengthen local drone and AI capabilities ahead of a future Series A.
