Acumen Raises USD 90 M For Africa Climate-Resilient Agriculture Fund

Acumen, a US-based impact investment firm founded in 2001 by Jacqueline Novogratz, has secured an additional USD 90 M in commitments for its Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund (ARAF) to expand climate-resilient agricultural investments across Africa.

Launched in 2020 and managed by Acumen Capital Partners, ARAF was the world’s first equity fund dedicated to strengthening smallholder farmers’ climate resilience. The new commitments come from returning investors Green Climate Fund (GCF), FMO, and Proparco, alongside new backers Swedfund, BIO, FASA, and a family office.

The fund has invested in 12 agribusinesses, reaching more than 3 million farmers, and plans to extend its footprint into North Africa while aiming to support an additional 4 million smallholder farmers.
