Morocco Launches USD 37 M Startup Catalytic Fund To Boost VC Funding

Morocco has launched a USD 37 M Startup Catalytic Fund to increase venture capital available to the country’s digital startups.

Launched by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration and managed by Tamwilcom, the government-backed mechanism became active following the publication of Decree No. 2.26.576, which allows MAD 347 M (USD 37 M) to be invested over three years in VC funds backing Moroccan startups.

The fund has partnered with the Mohammed VI Investment Fund and CDG, while nine additional fund managers have been shortlisted.

The selected funds are expected to mobilise nearly MAD 2.5 B (USD 268 M) in total capital for Moroccan startups. The initiative is designed to use public funding to attract private investment and strengthen Morocco’s venture capital ecosystem, particularly for digital and technology businesses.
