Ororo Waste Management, a Lagos-based used cooking oil (UCO) waste management company founded in 2021, has secured up to NGN 1.4 B (USD 1 M) from women-led angel network Rising Tide Africa.
The company, co-founded by Ayo Banjo, builds infrastructure to collect, track and export used cooking oil from households, markets, restaurants and institutional generators.
The funding will support UCO purchases, hub operating costs and expansion from three collection hubs in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt to more than 40 across Nigeria over five years.
Ororo, which is ISCC-certified as a UCO collector and exporter, aims to grow its formally paid collector network from about 5,000 people to more than 200,000 by 2031 and increase certified UCO collection to over 150,000 tonnes annually.
