Solarise Africa Secures USD 1.12 M Grant To Expand Into Uganda & Zambia

Solarise Africa, a Kenyan energy leasing company, has secured a EUR 1 M (USD 1.12 M) grant from EEP Africa to expand its commercial solar energy business into Uganda and Zambia.

Founded in 2018 by Patrik Huber, Jan Albert Valk and Sakkie van Wijk, the company provides renewable energy systems and long-term financing to commercial and industrial businesses.

Solarise Africa will match the grant with another EUR 1 M, funding a 24-month programme to establish operations in both markets and deploy 3MW of renewable energy capacity, including solar panels and battery storage.

The project targets at least 4.5GWh of renewable electricity generation and 3,600 tonnes of avoided CO₂ emissions. The grant is intended to help the company establish commercially sustainable operations and attract further private investment.

Solarise Africa has previously raised equity and debt financing, including a USD 33.4 M debt round in 2022.
