CrissCross, a South African cross-border payments company, has secured an undisclosed investment from Circle Ventures, the investment arm of US-listed stablecoin issuer Circle Internet Group, as it expands its payment infrastructure across Africa.
The investment was made through its parent company, Stitch Group, although neither party disclosed the amount or ownership stake involved.
CrissCross provides local collections, automated payouts, foreign exchange and corporate treasury services through a single API, connecting blockchain-based settlement with local bank accounts and mobile money wallets.
Its infrastructure supports more than 20 currencies across over 30 African markets, serving multinational companies, financial institutions and digital platforms. The investment will support the expansion of its stablecoin-powered payment infrastructure and strengthen its presence in African cross-border payment corridors.
