French President Emmanuel Macron To Visit Kenya In Mid-March

Latest information confirms French President Emmanuel Macron will be visiting Kenya next month.

French Ambassador Aline Kuster-Menager verified that Macron will make a two-day state visit to Nairobi in mid-March.

She said this in State house, Nairobi where she had gone to pay President Kenyatta a courtesy call.

In a report sent to newsrooms, President Kenyatta revealed that he is pleased and excited with Macron’s visit adding that he is anticipating it would break new ground in the bilateral relations between Kenya and France.

The president further stated that “Traditionally, Kenya and France enjoy strong bilateral ties and I am pleased that we’ve continued to deepen the relations.”

During the two-day visit by French president, Kenya and France are expected to sign several agreements covering various matters of mutual interest. Among projects that the talks may have in prospect include the train service between Nairobi town and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The French President has been keen on investing in Africa and he has over time shown effort to boost France’s global presence.

Mid last year he visited Nigeria and endorsed Digital Africa Initiative (DAI, an initiative that is tailored to create a pool of entrepreneurial knowledge and business information sharing.

The European superpower offered USD 1.13 Bn to kick-start the scheme that was anticipated to attract French, African and European businesses to the new narrative of the continent’s emerging entrepreneurs.

When giving his speech during an interactive session with the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) alumni, he was keen to point out that, “The best way to success is a strong private sector entrepreneur, as it is the sole medium through which inclusive growth can be ensured. It will also help raise a middle-class that will support productivity-related activities”.
