Five female-founded Kenyan startups have each been awarded KES 1 Mn (USD 9 K) in grant funding at the finalization of the Women in Tech incubation program run by Standard Chartered Bank in partnership with @iBizAfrica-Strathmore University.
Ten startups were chosen to take part in the fourth cohort where they received preparation, coaching, and mentorship from the @iBizAfrica-Strathmore University network of key industry experts, faculty, business leaders, experienced mentors, and professionals.
The successful startups include; Ecila Films, which creates films with real African stories; and Ufasiri Halisi SLI Innovations, which focuses on revolutionizing assistive technology for the disabled; the Viwanda Africa Group, which improves flight safety through a cloud-based AI platform for aircraft maintenance and spare parts planning; Runnovate, which works with a team of virtual assistants to help business owners save time and money; and Mandevu Beardcare, a men’s grooming company with a beard care product line.
