South African Biotechnology Startup Immobazyme Secures USD 1.3 M Funding

Immobazyme, a South African biotechnology start-up founded in 2019, has successfully raised USD 1.3 M in a recent funding round. The funding round was led by the The University Technology Fund (UTF) and University of Stellenbosch Enterprises.

Immobazyme is a spin-out company from Stellenbosch University that utilizes precision fermentation technology to produce high-value active protein ingredients. Its product portfolio includes growth factors for cell-cultured meat, enzymes like dextranase used in the sugar industry, and food ingredients for the food and beverage sector. With this funding, Immobazyme aims to double the size of its facility and expand its production capabilities.
