ANKA, the Ivorian e-commerce startup formerly known as Afrikrea, has been acquired by New York–based Global Shop for an undisclosed amount.
Founded in 2016 to help African creators sell, get paid, and ship globally, ANKA built a SaaS platform that integrates marketplace tools, payments, and logistics. The startup raised over USD 13 M from investors such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and processed USD 60 M in transactions before rebranding from Afrikrea.
Under the new ownership, Matilda Ceesay, Global Shop’s CEO, will lead ANKA, replacing co-founders Moulaye Taboure, Luc Diallo, and Kadry Diallo, who are exiting. Ceesay said the acquisition reflects a belief in ANKA’s mission to connect African and diaspora creators with global customers.
ANKA’s existing operations and team will remain in place, while its infrastructure is expected to serve as the operational backbone for Global Shop’s vision to scale African brands worldwide.
