Cassava Technologies, a global technology leader of African heritage, has secured a strategic investment from global chip heavyweight NVIDIA, marking a new phase in its mission to accelerate digital transformation across Africa.
Founded by Strive Masiyiwa and headquartered in the United Kingdom, Cassava operates across Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America through its portfolio of digital infrastructure and services subsidiaries, including Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Africa Data Centres, Liquid C2, Cassava.ai, and Sasai Fintech.
Group CEO Hardy Pemhiwa said the investment will unlock additional value and catalyse the company’s expansion efforts to bridge the digital divide on the continent. Meanwhile, earlier this year, Cassava Technologies announced a tie-in with Nvidia to build Africa’s first artificial intelligence (AI) factory which could cost up to USD 720 M.
Cassava’s roster of investors now includes Econet Group, Google, IFC, FEDA (Afreximbank), British International Investment, Finnfund, Gateway Capital, Public Investment Corporation, and Royal Bafokeng Holdings; a lineup that portrays its growing global influence in digital infrastructure and AI-driven services.
