Nigerian defence technology startup Terra Industries has announced USD 11.75 M in funding to scale autonomous security systems designed to protect critical infrastructure across the continent. The round was led by U.S. venture firm 8VC, with participation from Lux Capital, Valor Equity Partners, SV Angel, and several strategic investors.
Founded in 2024 by Nathan Nwachuku and Maxwell Maduka, Terra builds and manufactures autonomous drones, sentry towers, unmanned ground vehicles, and maritime surveillance systems powered by its proprietary ArtemisOS platform. The technology enables real-time threat detection and coordinated response across remote and high-risk environments.
Terra says its systems already secure infrastructure assets valued at roughly USD 11 B, including power plants and mining operations in Nigeria and Ghana. The new capital will fund expanded manufacturing in Abuja, engineering growth, and wider deployment across African markets as governments and operators seek locally built alternatives to foreign defense systems.
