Andela Acquires Woven To Deepen AI Engineering Assessments

Andela, the Africa-founded global engineering talent marketplace, has acquired Woven, a human-powered technical assessment company, for an undisclosed amount as it sharpens its focus on AI-native engineering talent.

Founded in Nigeria in 2014, Andela began by training and connecting African software developers to global companies before evolving into a marketplace with over 150,000 engineers worldwide.

Woven, founded by Wes Winham Winler, specialises in simulating real engineering work through scenario-based assessments that evaluate how developers perform in real-world conditions. The acquisition strengthens Andela’s ability to assess engineers building and deploying advanced AI systems, including LLMs, RAG pipelines, and autonomous workflows.

Woven’s technology will be integrated alongside Qualified, an assessment platform Andela acquired in 2023, to create a unified AI-powered evaluation stack. As part of the deal, Winler will join Andela to lead next-generation AI-focused assessments.
