Aqua-Spark Closes USD 48 M Africa Aquaculture Fund

Dutch aquaculture investment firm Aqua-Spark has held the final close of its Africa-focused fund at EUR 41.7 M (USD 48 M), targeting investments across the continent’s developing aquaculture value chain. Launched in 2021, the fund aims to support infrastructure, technology, and supply chain players working to scale sustainable fish farming in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Backed by development finance and impact investors including KfW, AgriFI, and Gatsby Africa, the fund has already begun deploying capital. Investments include Lake Harvest Group, Aquarech, and Chicoa Fish Farm.

Aqua-Spark plans to grow the vehicle into a USD 250 M platform over the next decade as demand for sustainable protein sources increases across the region.
