Yassir Acquires Uno Hypermarkets To Expand Omnichannel Retail In Algeria

Algerian superapp Yassir has acquired the Uno hypermarket chain from industrial conglomerate Cevital, marking a strategic expansion into physical retail and logistics. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2017 by Noureddine Tayebi, Yassir plans to rebrand the stores as Yassir Market and integrate its digital ecosystem into the retail experience. The first flagship location is expected to open in Algiers in 2026 with features including click-and-collect grocery fulfilment, in-store digital kiosks, and payments through Yassir Cash.

The acquisition comes shortly after Jumia exited Algeria, giving Yassir an opportunity to expand its e-grocery and delivery operations while leveraging Uno’s established retail footprint to build an omnichannel commerce platform.
