Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), in partnership with Plug and Play, has concluded its Aswan Bootcamp Series, supporting 61 startups across Upper Egypt, several of which have collectively secured EGP 200 M (USD 3.6 M) in funding.
Launched in 2024 with initial backing from USAID, the program transitioned to full local funding after external support was withdrawn.
Hosted at the Digital Egypt Innovation Hub in Aswan, the initiative reflects a broader government push to decentralise innovation beyond Cairo.
Through training, mentorship, and global investor access, the bootcamp has strengthened startup readiness and capital access. The program is part of Egypt’s wider strategy to build a geographically inclusive tech ecosystem, with plans to expand similar initiatives to other regions, including the Nile Delta.
