Lightrock Raises USD 500 M Fund To Tackle Energy Poverty In Africa & Elsewhere

Lightrock has raised a USD 500 M fund, Accelerate7, to back growth-stage companies tackling energy poverty across Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

The fund, supported by investors including Shell, TotalEnergies, Equinor, and LGT Group, will deploy USD 10–50 M tickets into businesses aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7. Focus areas include electricity access, clean cooking, and enabling technologies like EVs and storage.

Lightrock, founded in 2009 and headquartered in London, has already invested in SolarSquare, Sun King, Euler Motors, and ATEC Global, aiming to scale proven energy access solutions while delivering impact and returns.
