South African AI Startup Cue Raises USD 5 M For AI-Powered Customer Service Platform

Cue, a South Africa-founded AI-powered customer service platform, has raised USD 5 M in funding in a round co-led by Knife Capital and FAM Investments.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Cape Town, with operations in the UK, Cue helps businesses automate customer support using AI agents across channels including WhatsApp, email, SMS, webchat and voice.

Led by CEO Richard Nischk, the company serves more than 500 businesses across South Africa and the UK, handling over 500 million customer conversations annually while growing annual recurring revenue by more than 160% year-on-year.

The fresh capital will fund next-generation AI agents, expand voice, security and enterprise integrations, and support international growth and go-to-market expansion.
