Kenyan Startup Flowt Closes Pre-Seed Round To Finance Climate Businesses

Kenyan financial intelligence startup Flowt has closed an undisclosed pre-seed funding round from Delta40 Fund I, Impacc and Argidius Foundation to expand its lending to climate-smart businesses across Africa.

Founded by Elana Laichena and headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, Flowt uses AI to analyse accounting and banking records, turning fragmented financial data into lender-ready information and enabling faster working-capital decisions.

Its first financing went to GreenBay, a Kenyan circular-commerce company that refurbishes and resells home, solar and other appliances. Flowt integrated with GreenBay’s Odoo accounting system and analysed its bank statements to assess cash flow and repayment capacity.

The startup says its approach can reduce the time and cost of assessing small-business borrowers, helping unlock working capital for businesses that often lack traditional collateral or sufficient financial histories.
