Cameroon’s Waspito Bags USD 250 K Grand LEAP Award To Expand African E-Health Platform

Cameroonian e-health startup Waspito has won the USD 250 K Grand LEAP Award at the LEAP 2026 technology conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Founded in 2020 by Jean Lobe Lobe and based in Douala, Cameroon, Waspito connects patients with doctors through instant video consultations and provides mobile laboratory services, allowing technicians to collect samples from patients’ homes and deliver results digitally.

The company currently connects around 1.1 million patients with 2,100 doctors and more than 500 healthcare providers across Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire.

Waspito previously raised USD 2.5 M in November 2023, bringing its total seed funding to USD 5.2 M. The Grand LEAP Award was the largest of seven equity-free prizes distributed at the conference, which awarded a combined USD 1 M to startups.
