Tanzania’s East Africa Foods Raises USD 40 M To Expand Agritech Operations

East Africa Foods (EAF), a Tanzania-based agritech and food distribution company, has raised approximately USD 40 M to expand its agricultural supply chain operations across East Africa.

The funding includes a USD 26 M Series B equity round led by the Private Infrastructure Development Group’s investment arm, InfraCo, with participation from Oikocredit and Dutch development bank FMO.

Existing investors ARAF, Goodwell, Africa Eats and FINCA also reinvested, while the Schmidt Family Foundation provided debt financing.

Founded by Elia Timotheo, EAF is headquartered in Dar es Salaam and connects smallholder farmers with urban retailers through produce aggregation, storage, processing and distribution.

The company works with more than 28,000 registered farmers and serves over 10,000 retailers. It plans to strengthen its Tanzanian operations and expand into neighbouring Kenya, reducing food waste and improving market access for farmers.
