Nairobi-based Workpay has announced that it raised USD 5 M of Series A investment in a round led by Norrsken22. Participation came from Visa, Y Combinator, Acadian Ventures, Saviu Ventures, Axian, Plug n Play, and Verod-Kepple Africa Ventures.
Co-founded by Paul Kimani and Jackson Kibigo, Workpay offers a comprehensive cloud-based payroll and HR SaaS platform. It manages the entire journey of employees and contractors, from onboarding to offboarding. The platform includes features such as payroll processing, time tracking, leave management, expense tracking, performance management, employee benefits administration, and Employer of Record (EOR) services, among others.
Last year, the startup raised USD 2.7 M in seed funding to expand its operations. Investors included Launch Africa, Saviu Ventures, Acadian Ventures, Proparco, Fondation Botnar, Kara Ventures, Axian, P1 Ventures, and Norrsken.
