Kenyan fintech GTXN has been acquired by digital asset platform Luno for an undisclosed sum, bringing its licensed cross-border payments infrastructure into Luno’s operations.
Founded in 2022 and based in Nairobi, Kenya, GTXN provides foreign exchange and treasury advisory, digital treasury operations, and cross-border payment services for corporates and institutions.
The company is led by Dan Kleinbaum, who previously co-founded mobile-money fintech Beyonic, acquired by Onafriq in 2020.
GTXN was licensed by Kenya’s Capital Markets Authority as a fund manager in 2024. Following the acquisition, GTXN will operate as Luno’s cross-border payments arm, giving businesses a single regulated route to collect and make payouts between developed and emerging markets through Luno-owned rails and liquidity.
