Global Awarding Company Names Kenya’s Britam Tower Top Skyscraper In Africa
Britam Tower has been named the top skyscraper in Africa by Emporis, a globally renown company that awards skyscrapers based on the architectural excellence; the design of buildings and their functionality.
The Emporis Skyscraper Award is one of the world’s most coveted prize for high-rise architecture and is awarded on an international basis every year since its inception in 2000. Annually a jury of experts, research and analyse buildings with minimum heights of 100 meters before selecting winners.
The Upper hill-based skyscraper was also ranked tenth in the world. While making the revelation, Emporis disclosed that Britam Tower is the only building in Africa that has appeared among top 10 global skyscrapers since they started way back in the year 2000.
“Britam Tower by GAPP Architects and Triad Architects made its way to the tenth position among other outstanding skyscrapers in the world,” the Emporis management stated.
Triad architects who took part in designing the building expressed joy on hearing that their work has received a global commendation. In a statement they said, “We are proud to be associated with this prestigious list of outstanding skyscrapers.”
The 200 metres iconic Tower unseated its neighboring UAP Towers to be the tallest building not only in Nairobi but also in East and Central Africa.
The 31-storey skycrapper offers breathtaking views of the vast Nairobi capital including the endowed Nairobi National Park. During days when the weather is favorable, you can get an enchanting view of both Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro from the top of the building.
The tower that was completed in November 2017 is prism in shape and has a 12-storey car park that can accommodate over a thousand vehicles.
The building is owned by British-American Investments Company (Britam).
