South African Omnisient Secures USD 7.5 M

South African AI & Data-analytics start-up Omnisient has raised  USD 7.5 M in Series A from Arise. The startup plans to use the investment to support Omnisient’s expansion into African, UK, US, and Middle Eastern markets.

Founded in December 2019 by Jon Jacobson and Anton Grutzmacher, Omnisient is a privacy-enhancing technology and a data collaboration platform in emerging markets. The technology provides a controlled, secure environment for data analysis.

In 2021, the startup raised USD 1.4 Mn from investors such as Technova, Grand Bay Ventures, Tahseen Consulting, and Kepple Africa Ventures and an undisclosed Pre-Series A in 2020 from  Investec Private Capital, Compass Venture Capital, and Nedbank Corporate and Investment Banking.
