The Country Whose Aviation Sector Is Currently No.1 In Africa Is Launching Its National Airline In 2 Months

Ghana’s new national carrier will be ready to take to the skies in the next two months. The home-based carrier would connect various African cities with affordable airfares and this is in an effort to transform Ghana into the aviation hub of West Africa.

This was made known by Ghana’s Aviation Minister, Joseph Kofi Adda, on Wednesday (August 7, 2019) at the Aviation Ministry’s mid-year performance conference.

According to him, the stakeholders in the home-based carrier are bringing in expertise, professionalism, and well-rounded experience that will add value to the airline and champion the course of socio-economic growth in Ghana.

The Minister also congratulated the aviation sector agencies for attaining a score of 89.89 percent in the recent ICAO audit; currently the highest in Africa. According to him, the progress made so far should motivate the agencies to continue to work hard and demonstrate the highest standards of service. The minister added that the stakeholders in the sector need to be innovative in attracting businesses.

“It is only prudent that we as a sector become very innovative in our way of doing government business to attract the needed capital for the growth of the aviation industry and to create the needed jobs for Ghanaians,” he said.

The mid-year performance conference of the Ghanaian aviation sector seeks to, among other things, cast the spotlight on strategies that have ties to making sure the country makes the most of the opportunities that come with hosting the African Continental Free Trade Headquarters; something that has been identified as central to Ghana’s aviation hub agenda.
