Twitter Cracksdown On 70 Million Inactive Users in 2 Months
Just after we thought we have had it all with Facebook, Twitter suspends over 70 million accounts in May and June.
Reports according to The Washington Post reveal that Twitter Inc. suspended more than one million accounts a day in May and June in order to reduce the spread of false information on the platform.
In a bid to ensure that users don’t get to be victims of fake content and misinformation, Twitter is actively monitoring content on their platform and introducing necessary updates.
Recently, Twitter and other social media platforms have been monitored by United States Lawmakers and International Regulators concerning the issue of the flow of false information.
According to Wedbush analyst, Michael Pachter, “It’s hard to believe that 70 million accounts were affected when Twitter has only 336 million monthly active users (MAU)”

However, the decline in the number of accounts on Twitter may result in the decline in the numbers of monthly users on the platform for the second quarter, according to The Washington Post’s source.
Twitter’s Vice President for Trust and Safety Del Harvey told The Washington Post that the suspension of the accounts hasn’t had much of an impact yet on Twitter’s active user count—which was 336 million at the end of the first quarter.
In a blog post by Twitter last month, the company stated that “due to technology and process improvements during the past year, we are now removing 214 percent more accounts for violating our spam policies on a year-on-year basis,”
