First Ever: WeeTracker Media And Uber Announce UberPITCH For South African Entrepreneurs

By  |  August 3, 2018

Entrepreneurship is indeed challenging. The first thing that it takes away is your comfort zone. The challenges it unleashes at times appear unfair. But what is life without challenges; a purpose?

On that note, we would like to announce our partnership with Uber South Africa; where we want to add a little more to this challenge. No, it is not to intimidate you, but a thrilling opportunity to pitch your idea to a veteran VC of South Africa; all in an Uber vehicle, all in just 90 seconds.

We are excited to announce the unveiling of the first-ever Web series on Startups in South Africa, “UberPITCH.”

WeeTracker and Uber believe entrepreneurship is for all. And in an effort to get closer to the startup community, we thought we should engage with our ecosystem in a way that is not just rewarding but enriching too.

What is UberPITCH

We have kept it short and sweet. We will be inviting applications from South African startups/entrepreneurs to pitch their idea to the country’s top Venture Capitalists in an Uber ride. You can come well prepared and give your best shot to the investor you have been trying to reach. Not only does this give you a chance to secure some capital but also your 90 seconds of fame.

And that’s not all! UberPITCH is a web series, where all the action will be captured live on camera. You also have a mathematical probability to get connected to some other potential VC(s), who might be watching you from a different part of the world.

We are thrilled to partner with Uber, who shares the same thought with us; to grow any startup ecosystem, the stakeholders have to be participative.

Alon Lits, General Manager for Uber Sub-Saharan Africa says, “We are so excited about this innovative partnership with WeeTracker as we truly believe in enabling and empowering economic opportunities, and through UberPITCH we can do just that! South Africa is bursting with diverse entrepreneurs who have great ideas, and we cannot wait to meet them.”

So Who all can Apply?

If you are an entrepreneur based in South Africa and have your product in Beta/MVP stage

If your team is a maximum of eight people including founders

If your startup has no or limited revenues (less than ZAR 1 million)

Selection Process

All applications from participants, i.e. startups and individuals will be carefully vetted by our investment analysis team. Selected participants will be notified via emails.

Apply here to be a part of WeeTracker’s UberPITCH.

“We want to expand the limits of entrepreneurship for this active community by engaging with veterans in conversations that bring out the best for everyone else to learn. We are immensely pleased that Uber in SA shares the same thoughts and extremely positive that this effort will be a step in the right direction”, said Rishabh Lawania, CEO, WeeTracker Media Inc.
